Established in 2018, Light Charity brings together energetic young people, young entrepreneurs, office workers, and students eager to “make Vietnam a better place to live.” Light Charity operates according to CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) standards.
Mission
Light Charity believes that as volunteering, social work, and community projects expressing the spirit of mutual care and support become more widespread, we need a more appropriate approach to how we think about and practice charity in Vietnam. We value compassionate hearts, but kindness needs to reach the right people, in the right place, at the right time.
We must go beyond giving whatever we have, filling shortages, and providing what is needed. At the same time, to limit isolated and short-term activities, relief work needs to be mutually supportive, based on needs and human rights, and harmoniously coordinated to avoid waste and unfairness.
Light Charity aims to pioneer the systematization and standardization of charitable activities, while using technology to address the challenges facing charity.
The 2018 Journey
Light Charity focuses on 3 main areas:
- Lightone: 1,000,000+ ITEMS OF CLOTHING WITH LOVE: Held over 21 days, with the main activities being encouraging and collecting clothing donations. LightDay—the clothing-sharing festival—features 50 booths and thousands of participants who give and receive. It helps address clothing waste in society, creates a model for students to help their peers stay in school, and offers opportunities for people to grow closer through more community-building activities. In the following years, this will continue as the CLOTHING WITH LOVE FESTIVAL across Vietnam's 63 provinces and cities.
- Digitize all charitable information from both Givers and Recipients on the project's charitable information website. Light Charity acts as an intermediary, coordinating charitable resources more effectively, quickly, and conveniently.
- Standardization and transfer: A turnkey model for supporting charitable work in local communities. Establish charity chapters in each area that use the transferred system to develop charitable activities locally.
