Where will your old clothes go?

If you wonder what happened to the old items you donated to “Lightone: 1.000.000+ Clothes of Love,” you may be surprised to learn that they will be “transformed” into medical support for children with leukemia!

Used during the “Clothing Sharing Festival — LightDay”

As soon as your donated clothing is received, Light Charity volunteers will take it to the warehouse and carefully organize and sort it. More than 1 million clothing items are expected to be donated, all for the “Clothing-Sharing Festival – LightDay,” taking place from 08:00 to 17:00 on April 8 at Sadeco Workers' Housing, Tân Thuận Export Processing Zone, Lot X01-06, Bùi Văn Ba Street, Tân Thuận Đông Ward, District 7.

Donated clothing is used at the “Clothing Sharing Festival”

The festival brings together around 50 stalls (estimated at 20.000 items per stall), with 3.000 attendees (including donors and recipients), 500 volunteers, 60 organizing committee members, and 40 guests (government representatives, media, partners, and inspiring KOLs). Here, people in need can receive secondhand clothing with the joy of buying rather than being given something, at 2.000 VND per item. It is estimated that more than 8000 people will each receive 4–8 suitable clothing items with wishes and needs.

Raise funds to help children with leukemia

Using proceeds from the Clothing Sharing Festival, Light Charity will raise funds to help children with leukemia through the recipient organization, the “Giấc mơ đôi chân thiên thần Fund.”

Leukemia, also known here as acute leukemia, is a condition in which immature white blood cells originating in the bone marrow multiply malignantly, crowding out normal blood-cell production and infiltrating many parts of the body. It is one of the most common forms of cancer in children.

Treating acute leukemia is complex and difficult because it requires many drugs, all of which can be highly toxic and cause numerous side effects. Treatment lasts 2–3 years. These children, under 10 years old, usually need monthly blood transfusions costing 1–5 million per child per month. Timely support from us can greatly help their parents gain time to prepare their finances more proactively for the following year.

Do you see? Your old clothes can help so many people. Do not let them go to waste. If they are still in good condition, contact the Light Charity organizing team so your old clothes can continue to be useful!

Light Charity now has clothing collection points across 24 districts in Ho Chi Minh City. To donate clothing, see: https://goo.gl/pKrSnL. Hotline: Mr. Tuấn 0904 878 648. Light Charity will accept donations until the end of 07/04/2018.
